setting positive intentions – walking the labyrinth

Last week I celebrated the new calendar year with a family walk at our neighbourhood labyrinth.  Though cold, we soaked up the sunshine and outdoor beauty to share some quality time together.

What I love about the labyrinth is that there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to walk the path, a true metaphor for life.

For my 3-year-old son, sometimes he likes to hold my hand and walk the circle together; after he reaches the center he releases with a bound of energy and goes off to explore the park.  For myself, circling to the centre is an opportunity to calm my mind, for self-reflection and listening for my inner wisdom.

A personal goal for this recent walk was to set positive intentions for the New Year ahead.  Through the walking meditation of the labyrinth my annual theme word was revealed.  My word to inspire, to ground, and to create with this year is: connection.

walking the labyrinth
  • Connecting body, mind, and spirit
  • Connecting the dark and the light
  • Connecting fear and courage
  • Connecting heart and home
  • Connecting with family, friends and community
  • Connecting with sacred pauses
  • Connecting wisdom and compassion
  • Connecting my vision with my voice
  • Connecting to creativity!
Loving these positive intentions for the year ahead!

Connection is a theme to inspire all activities of daily living, to support my dreams and goals.  These intentions are also themes that have been transforming my organizing work for positive space living.

Setting positive intentions for a year, a season, or a specific project is a supportive strategy to honour your current goals and values.  In the process of home organizing, a theme can alleviate decision-making fatigue as you consciously create spaces that reflect you and your present lifestyle.

In past years my words for inspiration were nurture, grow, release…

Take a moment now to connect with your inner wisdom.

I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

What positive intentions or theme have you created for the year ahead?
